Here are two great tutorials about Baking light and normal maps, created by Viktor W., and the tutorials use new features from Blender 2.46!
Viktor send us a description of the tutorials:
Since blender 2.46RC has been released I thought it might be nice to have some tutorials introducing the new features, so I made some. The first tutorial is
about the new bake feature and describes how to create normal maps from
hi-poly models which then can be used for game models for example. The other
tutorial is about lightmap generation using blender radiosity.
You can find the tutorials here.
really nice i had to learn this on my own though rofl
this is great for games also but be ware of using alhpas in BGE or you can do a post comp in GIMP or PS to merge the two layers into one and then use that one in BGE also be care full if you do use this method in BGE to clamp the texture size at a good size or it will be LAGGY
Thanks for the tutorial!
Woot! Great timing on the normal map tutorial. I was struggling with this.
I found this tutorial about normal map baking in Blender 2.46 in a CGTalk thread. Very useful too...
