  1. Hahaha you Melbourne guys steal our grand prix but you can't steal our cool presentations. =D

You guys can travel down here for once and actually see how cool Adelaide is lol

*Uh oh the flame is close! ;)*

Really exciting to have something here, Australia is really liking open tomato blender sauce 8).

Next is Perth, Darwin etc? =D

    See everyone there,
    Lee

  2. Sorry to be slightly off topic, grabbed the Unix flavour from your above link, nice :D

I must say that the timing of 2.46 being completed will bode well for the Adelaide chapter meeting of Siggraph though! Any reports/accounts of how it went would be much appreciated. Other side of the world here and very much wishing I could be there!

    Cheers

  3. I really like how the community of blender users it's increasing more and more. I'm waiting also for the Blender 2.46, please Ton, don't make us wait more! >_<

  4. Do Brisbane next!!

I'd consider actually flying down there, if I knew what exactly this conference was for? I grasp that the main focus is Open Source Blender... so does that mean that it's more for people who don't know what Blender is?
Coz it would suck to fly all the way down there only to find out that it's just a speech on what Blender can do.

I'd appreciate if anyone could provide this info =)

    Cheers

  5. Yes, its mainly aimed at people who dont use blender, im only talking for an hour.

Vibeke Sorensen will be talking for the other hour, she was the Programme Chair for SIGGRAPH 2007 Art Gallery, and also a visual interactive artist.

Im going to show off some of the cool high end features..., the new hair, Cloth, Fluids, Softbodies, Nodes.... unfortunately i dont know the armature system very well. then after that im going do an introduction to Blender, alot of people have trouble getting over the interface and work flow of blender. so ill be showing where everything is.
im also going to touch on lightly on Inidigo with blender, ive been using it for the last few weeks and i love it. its not open source, but it is free.

If there is alot of interest i could some more in depth talks on Blender, Ild love to do another Blender conference (i organized one in Sydney in 2004) but it cost me a bit and in 2005 it was just so much work getting anyone to commit to turning up, i guess there would be a bit more interest now however.

LohnS!! glad your back in Adelaide, be great to catch up again.

Great to hear some Blender users can make it.

    cheers, Levon

  6. I would love to be there, but am in Brisbane. Something of this nature in a more central location, like...Alice Springs would be great.

    Maybe not.

However, I would be all for a Blender conference. Give me a date and I will be there.

    Greenlig

  7. Greenilg, i get the idea of having it in a Central Location.... but for the cost of flying to Alice springs, we may as well have it in New Zealand, It would be cheaper for everyone.

ill see if there is any chance of videoing my presentation and upload it on the net.

    cheer, Levon

  8. Oh the surprise of opening up Blendernation to find ann even I can actually attend! Whilst I get what Blender can do, it will be nice to see some of the newer features in action and hopefully meet some local BlenderHeads.

P.S. Surely Melbourne is big enough to organise its own events by now... :P

  9. Could've got a better map! The coastline is quite wrong (unless the sea rises 20m) and the city is not marked very well.

  10. damn I live in Adelaide but will be working near Tasmania on the 29th :(

Sounds like you need a name and website to promote interest for an event/conference like this. Also an email subscription so we can get lots of notice and time to tell others.

All the best, sounds like you people will open eyes and hopefully inspire an interesting and productive conversation.

  11. Michael.. i didn't do the Map, just the event poster.

Chris, check out the DLF website http://www.dlf.org.au/ there is a DLF mailing list, which is mainly people asking for help, and 3d CG demo reels, movie talk etc. also has job postings occasionally

you can sign up to the Adelaide Siggraph Chapter at http://www.siggraph.org/mailman/listinfo/adelaide-members very low volume, mainly posts about DLF events.

If people are interested in getting a group together and doing events more often in Adelaide, stick around for a chat afterwards, drinks and nibbles are provided.
