1,500th Post!

19

Yeah, not many people can say that ;-) Congratulations to the entire team for keeping this website running for almost two and a half years already!

On a side-note, last month we *almost* broke the 1,000,000 pageviews barrier for the first time, and I just noticed we broke the 4,500 RSS subscribers barrier today. We're doing great!

Having said that, the amount of Blender news just keeps increasing and posting only two articles a day just isn't enough to keep up anymore. We need help!

Right now we're disappointing more and more people who send in interesting news, simply because we just can't keep up. I'd love to be able to do 3-5 posts per day (we have enough news for that), but to do that we need more editors!

Do you want to be part of the elite, member of the cool crew, writer of the creme-de-la-creme in the Blender community? (translation: sit behind your computer and punch articles into our site). Then maybe you're the right person to help us out.

Can you:

  • work independently?
  • show us three web articles (preferably blog posts) that you wrote previously (provide URLs)?
  • write at least one article per week?

And of course: do you love Blender?

If the answers to all that are 'yes!' then get in touch and supply us with a few samples of your work. We'll discuss the candidates with the team and get back to you asap.

PS: yeah, actually this is post #1502 but that didn't work so well for the title..

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Congratulations and thanks for all your hard work. I look forward to reading what is new every morning on Blender Nation! (Even before coffee!)

  2. Congratulations and thanks for everyones effort and time for this invaluable resource for the Blender Community. Many thanks to everyone who makes it possible!!

  3. Really ByronK? I can't do anything before coffee (except make coffee).

Hearty congratulations to a web site that has served to unite Blender users around the world, and keep us informed and educated about all things Blender. There is no doubt in my mind that Blender Nation is a boon to Blender, and a part of the formula of its success.

  4. You know what BN could try? A web2.0esque social-voting system for stories. Like reddit or Digg.

Then there would be no need for editors(oops, I just fired a dozen hard working people)

  5. @mpan3: yes, I thought about that. I'm not sure there are any open source packages for that kind of site that are as stable as WordPress though. I found pligg.com, but I've read some not-so-good reviews about it. Do you know of any others?
