kerk.jpgKerkythea Echo has been released. If you haven't heard of Kerkythea its a flexible and powerful free rendering engine now capable of ray tracing, Photon Mapping and Metropolis Light Transport.

The new release adds even more functionality. Kerkythea Echo sports an improved interface, paintable instancing, revamped material editor, IES lights, procedural ramps and more.

A Blender python exporter does exist and can be downloaded here. And there are some great video tutorials on using Blender with Kerkythea here.

Download the latest version of Kerkythea here. You'll find versions for OSX, Windows and Linux available. There is a great community in the Kerkythea forums and an active development team.

  1. I agree gord - I'd be curious to see a matrix of comparisons of the various ray tracers out there - yafray, povray, etc... (Off to google i guess...) and how they integrate with Blender.

  2. This may interest users which use linux .
