Blender CGF Script for Crysis

11

changed-since-245002.jpg The user amorilia of the crymod.com forum has updated his FarCry export script
for Blender so that you can export objects to be used in the ego shooter game
"Crysis"

Originally posted by amorilia on crymod.com

"The Blender cgf scripts have been updated to export Far Cry style cgf files that are compatible with Crysis (i.e. with correct texture paths and Illum shader out of the box).
I've also written a small utility to edit cgf files. It's called QSkope and comes with the newest PyFFI. For example, QSkope allows one to edit texture paths and shaders for Far Cry without having to use a hex editor.

  1. Though I'm not modding anymore I wanted to leave a comment.
It sounds like a cool exporter and such things help game/mod devs a lot.
And BN, please keep on informing us about such stuff, thx :)

  2. Many people in the mod community are biased towards the names we've heard mentioned as "Industry Standards" - XSI, MAX, Maya usually. This exporter of amorilia's is getting these folks interested in blender, some who have never given it a try before, and some who've never even heard of it.

You see, right now, the exporters for Crysis are pretty buggy when it comes to materials and textures and they only come with support for 3dsMAX (which is expensive for those who choose not to pirate). Amorilia's exporter, however works great and add that to the fact that blender itself is a fast, powerful, heavily supported (and free!) 3d app. I think that there might be a possibility that his scripts could win a few converts over to our side!

Once the new normal mapping features are implemented, blender couldl be more inviting than ever before.

    Over and out!

Who knows, i can see alot of ppl in the industry who would like to see that blender grows.
Most of them are just waiting for more powerfull mesh editing tools ..

  4. Very nice!! I am one of the fortunate few who has a computer that can actually play Crysis at >320x240, so I am looking forward to trying this out!

  5. This is great. I bought crysis on release and found it to be an enjoyable game. I got it with my new computer so i can play it on all very high most of the time but i usually stick it on high to prevent any lag

    Can't wait to try this!

  6. Mexicans vote for bush on

Crysis and FarCry before that must be the dumbest games
ever created. But the graphics in Crysis is really amazing and
even makes you forget how trully dumb the hole game is.

  7. Mexicans vote for bush on

I have just forgotten. The dumbest game I know is
Call of Duty 4. But maybe that is really how they fight in Iraq,
which will explain the great results they are getting there.

  8. I love Far Cry. I completed it 6x!!! :) It has very good gameplay and very big replay value.

Now I have no good machine for Crysis but I will love it too I am sure.

  9. actually i loved farcry when it first came out, but the last few levels made my machine slow like a slug.
now a few years later a couple of people at work still play far cry multiplayer during the weekend, and when I join in it seems so overly boring, sad to say. I'll get crysis when I get a new computer, which will be quite some time from now. But I'm glad this script is here.
Both a crysis and ut3 export script around now, nice...
