The call or content for issue #15 of BlenderArt magazine is out; this issue's topic is ‘Art of Animating'.

Sandra Gilbert writes:

It's time again to start thinking about articles, tutorials and images for Issue # 15 of Blenderart Magazine. In this issue we are focusing on ‘Art of Animating'. We are looking for tutorials, “making of” articles, and projects of interest that focus on the art of Animating.

It's time to share your knowledge of:

  • Recent improvements in animation tools
  • Facial animation: emotions, lip syncing, phonemes
  • Making your animation more believable: arcs, follow through, secondary actions
  • Free characters and character rigs
  • Making of articles on any animated short you are working on or have completed.

Also wanted: great shaders, materials and node setups for any great looking materials and effects.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Dang, I've got to finish my lightsaber tutorial in time for this. Rotoscoping would be an awesome addition to an animation issue. Plus the introduction to nodes.

  2. YES! What LsBlend said. Please include the new camera jitter technique as a tutorial.

Don't let that one get lost in the black hole of blender tutorials/techniques!

Look forward to this issue. I haven't ever been game to give animation a fair go. Been trying to get this lighting and rendering down pat. So if it includes beginners tutorials I'll be happy indeed!

  3. I would write a tutorial... if I knew anything about the Art of Animation myself XD. Looking forward to this Issue, I wanna learn this stuff badly!

@CrazyJack: Was the frog moving, or were you? Remember it's all relative! WooOOoooooOOOOOOOoooo....... *whispers* relativity....

I also would like one of camera and lighting... actually I think there was one on lighting... can't remember. Oh well just make me another. Chop Chop, get to work :D.

PS: The BlenderArt Team ROCK! Keep it up you sexy things you!
