wow... impressive modelling :)
i'm sad to say i don't think the final render did the modelling justice :(
however, it was definetly the most original/creative entry!!!
Excellent work.
Very good work on modeling. You showed that we Blender deserves its place among the great.
Applause .
It is the monument to russian tzar Peter I in Moscow, by Tseriteli. It's artistic value is questionable, like other works of this sculptor...
But awesome modeling though!
Wow. The top of it is awesome - it's just a shame that on the bottom of the image you see the quads
Yeah, I don't really understand is why he didn't turn on smooth shading. :P Nice work otherwise, tho!
Very nice indeed. It seems to me the faceted look is a style choice. Also the conveyance of scale, as per the contest guidelines, is extraordinary.
OMG, i used to live quite close to the actual sculpture... (It's located on Moskva river in Moscow). Awesome modeling, but the original is such a monstrosity...
Yea, good thing ye put it up here Bart. It's as neato as when I first saw it. I really dig the composition of the model, really well done Erik!
Thanks for the comments :)
I used blender 2.45 and a 12" powerbook for this project.
The model lagged so much on my 1GHz mac that I couldn't finish it :/
Smooth shading pretty much lost the "details" on the model..
I had loads of fun playing with arrays and mirroring on this one :)
