Tutorial: Using Vertexpainting Instead of UV Textures

3

screenshot.jpgThis one's been our todo list for a while and the tutorial isn't too recent, but it's a nice technique to experiment with during the upcoming weekend.

Oto the Cleaner (we covered one of his other tutorials earlier this year) explains how to vertexpaint a Lara Croft character, achieving a rather acceptable result.

It'll cost you a handfull of extra vertices and faces but it'll save you the trouble of creating your own UV textures :)

Take care to click on the extremely subtle navigation to the second page of this tutorial: the number '2' at the top and bottom of the page is a link!

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.
