This is very last minute, for which I apologize, but if you live around Geneva this might be interesting for you: Benjamin Hodges will be giving Blender demos, a presentation and a tutorial on the 'Open Source Software for media professionals' in Geneva today and tomorrow.
Benjamin Hodges wrote:
I'll be running demos on blender and giving a presentation on its potential in television production as part of the Open Source Software for media professionals trainings organized by the European Broadcasting Union on 1 - 2 October 2007 in Geneva, Switzerland. The goal of the trainings is to introduce heads of technical departments, Media engineers, and consultants to the possibilities and benefits of using open source software such as Blender. A pdf of the program is available here and the general site here.
I am a long time user of Blender (began in 2001) who also has a PhD in Cultural Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. My academic work focuses on the shifting social dynamics around new media practices. I also work as a freelance animator and designer. More about my work can be seen online at my website www.tablechairwall.com.
The registration fee for the event is €199 for non-members.
