I was actually able to pry Bassam away fro the computer at the Blender booth to give an interview about his new Mancandy model and rigging system and his upcoming Blender Foundation training DVD.
In addition, I've included Bassam's video presentation at the SIGGRAPH Birds of Feather conference. Please note that this is a video, of a video screen and that the acoustics in the room had a bad echo, though I think you'll still enjoy it. I'm looking forward to getting the rig and DVD when they are released.

hi thanks for the interview
Bassam rulez!
Bassam's a rigging genius. I can't wait for the DVD to come out. Speaking of rigging, has anyone tried out the new rigging tools? Heat-based weighting is amazing, and editing an armature deformed mesh works like a dream. Very exciting stuff.
Wooooowww. That looks like it's going to be a really nice DVD. It's so pretty! :D
Ah, so now we know a bit more about the mysterious training DVDs mentioned on the Peach blog. Sounds very neat! :) Thanks for the interview!
That's going to be one awesome training DVD... Thanks for the great vids, Tim!
Simply high class rigging... and fun animation, parts of it would have enhanced this year demo reel.
Hats off to Bassam.
