Orange Marble Blender Vodcast

afbeelding-1.jpgIan Elsner is sharing some of his thoughts on modeling and animating while working on his movie, 'Eros', in a series of video monologues. Interestingly enough, he recorded three episodes while on holiday in Greece and China.

Ian writes:

I have been using blender as a silly hobby to distract me from highschool for about two years now, and just now I started a small podcast largely concerning blender. This podcast stemmed from both a desire to give something back to the blender community and the art community at large and to expose the inner workings of a young, amateur studio.

Animation is a very time consuming process, but like an animator's finished product, it's also a story in itself. I have no doubt that there are plenty of people who are interested in the story of animation, particularly amateur animation, but there are very few ways to watch how an animation was created outside of the bonus DVD of major film. Hopefully this podcast will become a constant channel that the interested can tune into, perhaps with some tutorials and out-of-house content, and, most auspiciously, an entire community.

The podcast's home (and that of the podcast feed and my other animations) is here: http://orangemarblestudio.com/Podcast/ .

If nothing else, I hope you will get a laugh out of them... they were certainly fun to make :)

So far, Ian has published four episodes and I'm looking forward to the next one. Keep it up, Ian!

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. this is very nice!
they are fun to watch, and still have the information in there. so it's not just blabbering, or not just technotalk. great work!

p.s. watch the weight of those juggler balls.. gravity on current shown clip was quite loose.. maybe even tape yourself juggling, and use that in background of blender.. :)
