Seven years ago, Blender artist Shigeto Maeda created a wonderful Blender artbook for Not a Number called Ka-ra. He has now produced a sequel, filled with strange organic shapes and poetry - check out the preview PDF. You can order the book from blurb.com for $29.95 (softcover version) or $37.95 (hardcover version).

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

oh yes, I remember, and I still have this artbook not so far away from me... The works of Shigeto were already marvellous at the time... I wonder how his skills has evolved with all the new possibilities Blender never ceased to provide, since then, version after version... I'm sure the preview PDF is only a faint glimpse at his organic skills...
Uh, just these days I was wondering what was of Shigeto Maeda all these years.
Whoah, I'm in a zen mode... Very neat.
i remember ka-ra, it was an absolutely awesome book. when i started with blender, shigeto maeda was my big idol... still is. very cool!

I so wanted to like it but the pretentious pseudo zen ramblings are laughable.
And judging by the environment map relflections his 'perfect thing' appears to be evolving in some kind of warehouse.

Congratulations Shigeto. Very beautiful work!
Greetings from Brasil.
Excellent work. I've seen all the images and they are really outstanding. Congratulations, Shige!
Oh, all my good friends! :)
Thanks. I'm still standing on side of Blender. Always I'm getting lots of ideas and stimulus from your activities. So I hope my works will be an opportunity for someone's work. I'm planning next book now, so see you soon. :)
Shige!
Wow another Ka-Ra book, congrats!
Want to meet up with you and Tony soon, I will be in touch!

PS If this comes out as a double post, sorry.
Hi Sensei!,
Wow, how are you doing? :)
Please come to Shibuya event on Sep. 9th. I'll do VJ set.
I don't remember the first book, but I was slightly confused after reading the first 2-3 pages, but after reading the whole preview, I must say that is some pretty awesome stuff. I do not doubt if the rest of the book is even cooler.
This is so silly. The forms are at least something, but the peotry is unreasoned tripe. 4:20 anyone
Wow yeah I remember.. I had just started in blender when that came out. Great work shige!
I started become interested in animation after watching Shigeto's Horus clips... they were so brilliant...
Good luck in all your projects Shige !
:) How... odd... to see Shige and Sensei make a date on blendernation, a tear has sprong into my eye, love you all guys.
