Independent Feature Film with Blender Effects in production

18

Project LondonHave you ever heard of Project London? That`s the name of a promising project, which consist of a Independent Feature Film using Blender, for 3d animation and some effect shots. For an independent movie, the animation showed so far, is very impressive!

Don't believe me? Well, take a look into this animation:

Awesome, isn't it? For post production and composition, they are using After Effects.

If you want to know more about the project, you can check out this post at the blenderartists forums, or the production blog. It`s very good a production like this using Blender for animation, specially high quality stuff!

  1. Suhweet... I hope the production team gives updates on blenderartists... that'd be cool and draw more traffic to our favorite hobby.

  2. @RedBirdiii
Ian Hubert (MrDodobird) is the wunderkind (I've always wanted to use that word!) behind both Ideality and Project London. While Ideality and SBFP* were amateur productions, Project London is a real indie production.

    @David Revoy
Actually, the team has barely gotten started. That animation is completely by Ian Hubert, probably knocked out in 10 minutes. Sickening :-) As you can see from the production blog, shooting is about halfway done and then the real CGI team should be getting in gear.

    * SBFP = Spacemen Belong in the Future Probably

  3. I was blown away! screw Maya!-Well ?- not yet.
I love blender and Silo, both are great software to work with.I'm glad that this film company have found a free 3d application to do their CG work, however Blender needs more work and more support from all of us to make work better.

  4. Well this is an unexpected surprise!

For those of you interested, here's a "non-hella-compressed quicktime version"

Hah, yeah, Spamagnet is right, we're setting up some basic infrastructure and stuff, but real CG production isn't gonna kick off till shootings done in 12 more days (shooting a feature in 20 10-hour days- possible, but you gotta keep goin').

If any of you are interested in helping out, there's more information about it on the SubjectCG website, http://robotsoup.com/random/subjectcg/

    Rad! Thanks, all.

  5. Impressive, but...

WARNING: The movement of that giant robot in the QT clip is TOO GOOD, in that it's too realisticly human and not mechanical enough, which makes it look a bit like it's a person in a robot costume.

  6. huzzah.... It is by the robotsoup people... YEAH!!!! I'm so physced about this... mostly because I know these guys will finish what they've started, and that it won't fizzle to nothing like so many projects. Alright!

  7. Cool! Not too long and you'll see some clips featuring Blender generated content in an independent feature film in made in the US. Most of the fx are designed to be invisible. Can't talk about it now. More soon.
