I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Looks cool. Love the view - and the green wallpaper. Inspirational (the view, not the wallpaper). I suspect if I was on the team the STFU corner would soon be renamed the "AndyD corner" :) Mind you, if I was there I'd spend most of my time outside painting pictures of those boats!!! Australia mostly lacks that sort of historical charm.

  2. mmm.. room for the bad coders.. but who the hell is the STFU corner for, is that where sago will be screamed for all the killer jokes for(in the animation i mean) by @ndy and the otheres(mostly ofc. the projects leader @ndy, i guess..)

    [j/k ofc.] :)

  3. Is Ton the only one who actually owns a blender t-shirt? LOL am jk jk!!! No but seriously, is he? ok ok am joking again. Great stuff! I can't wait to see this on mtv! It be the blender world!

  4. I think I got what he was saying pretty good. All great leaders have a personal voice, like Arnold Scwarzegger! I really like how he said "the stfu" corner. Great to see it. Thanks, Ton. Cool!

"AndyD: Where the heck do you live? Plenty of history and big ass ships over here in Sydney."
Second that! Why do some many people think that theres nothing in australia. Don't let the pictures of the empty inland australia fool you, theres alot in australia!

  6. @Amped:
Thanks, that's the statement, I needed:
Now, you told me, that I'm not too bad in understanding him,k as I only needed two times :P

  7. I got that 'leopard' chair! Well my little brother has got it. IKEA! Hahaha.
And I got that shirt too! I got it on my birthday. (24th of November)
I'm probable going to wear it the next Blender Conference, however I will need to ask permission of school (again) to go to the Blender Conference. Ton really dares, STFU. Haha.
I hope that I'll one day work there. Or in another animation studio (lol) .

  8. I dare anyone to match-move / track this video, yikes!
Nice space Ton. I'll be in Amsterdam sometime next year, will try to look you up.

  9. Ton is my hero. with the speech impediment, and the accent, he is a challenge to understand, at first, but i think he is worth listening to. i could draw a comparison, between him and the blender interface, both of which present some interesting challenges, initially. i think i am developing a familiarity, and fondness, for both.

thanks for the tour! : )

  10. isn't it the talkshow and big brother effect to screaming voices nearby microfones?
I wish i had so a silent place at home to work on my pc and concentrate.

  11. Sergeant Oreo on

I like the new studio a lot. And personally,
I didn't have any trouble understanding Ton.
The only thing I didn't like was the corner.

  12. Nice place, Ton, and I see you've prepared a place of honor for Wu when he visits Sago for lunch!

Honestly, I have no problem understanding him the first time. Maybe someday I will be able to visit this place, and see how professionals work together. :)
The architecture reminds me a little of ED, with the rooms that closed in :)

  13. haha - I can't watch it - stupid flash plugin on linux keeps crashing on me... had this problem with all flash stuff since I got version 9 of the plugin - strange, other people have commented that it's more stable??... I think it's overflowing the internal file ID buffer in firefox for some reason - but why I might never know - shame it's closed source grrr!!!

    @The_MorMor:
there's a reason why we abreviate things you know...

    ~epat. :/

  14. A room for bad coders?? Maybe more like a room for a coder that's just suffering from A.D.D. or is feeling distracted in general. The separate room is going to be more useful as a thinking tank than a forced isolation chamber. :)

  15. Nice digs, Looks well nice space to work, play and basically keep the blender wheels turning!

    Thanks for the tour.

  16. Ohh!!!

This is so great!! and the view is awesome!!

The STFU corner is heated and have a great view.. sounds like people will talk rubbish just to get there..

I envy anyone who will work there (not that my view is not great, but this is Amsterdam baby) - a great place for great people to do great stuff in

  17. That's just great!!

Ton, do you give guided tours? :D :D
I live at the other side of the country but I come around Amsterdam every now and then. I'd love to see all those Famous Blender People in action on Peach in that lovely studio...

  18. Mr Ton Roosendaal your the man and I hop to see this time professional Art work from the new
    (Blender Institute Office)

    Good Luck...
