Demo Reel by Javier Galan

19

Toy RobotJavier Galán (a.k.a. Chronoh) created a very slick demo reel with great timing and cool music. Though it has a Flash feel to it, it was done in Blender.

You can view it via the links on his website or the Blender Artist thread

  1. That is one very slick piece of work.

And it's great to see Blender being used for a range of visual styles, which it is obviously capable of. Excellent editing, and it's a very kinetic way of presenting still work. You almost get the feeling throughout that everything is in motion.

    Good job Javier!

  2. *very* nice;
the robot falling apart at the beginning is what I like most :D

btw: what does the heart-shaped symbol at the end stand for?
Blender, The GIMP, Inkscape signs are common, but the heart sign I have no idea.

  3. Really nice showreel!

It's good to see something fresh in the 3D area. I hope to see more of your animations in the futur ;)

  4. Hi!!,

thanks everybody to see my work, and thanks to the Blendernation crew for the entry :)

    LoMac: thanks!

patdog: thanks, I think that presentation it's very important.

Samir: good point about the motion, but in fact I wished to put more motion into the reel. The main problem was the deadlines because I made the whole work just in two weeks, so it was a bit frustrating because I didn't have time to create more footage.

elGordo: chronoh no rules!!, chronoh just works!! :P

Zanqdo: thanks!!, the edit was made entirely in Blender

Sobek: I used the fluid simulator to make that shot. In the blendernation thread you can find a little walkthrough about how I made that effect: http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?t=99118

    Konrad_ha: thanks!

Ron7: I'm very happy to see the word fresh in your reply. Now I'm looking for ideas for the next project, so expect to see more animations soon.

Virgilio: I checked your portfolio some days ago and I was TRULY convinced that you will get into the peach project. I loved
Matinta Perera, Nhapopé and Boto. Best luck for the next project, sincerely.

  5. Nice, Real nice!

The toys look minimalistic great, thought the liquid robot at the start was flash, but now I find that its all Blender!

    Very well done and creative.
(I really like the old film effect, adds to the realism)

Audio synch is well done as well.

  6. Nice! Please see my demoreel (split in few parts swf-made with swf tools) on http://www.kwiatuch.com (my portfolio web site). This is made in Blender as well as other software (3ds6, Vue4, Gimp, Corel, and many other). Music is of my friend's (Maciej Kilichowski). Thanks for GPL software!

  7. Yeah, reely nice, great to see the Blender tools being combined in such imaginative ways.

My only disappointment was that the "technical difficulties" were not "fixed". The suspense builds during the blackout, only to discover that we are not going to get any more. Maybe if it happened a little earlier and the rest of the reel continued after it was fixed?

(I was once at a Dream Warriors (anyone remember them? - y'know, Wash your face in my sink) concert when all but a couple of channels dropped out completely. For about 30 seconds you could still just hear the beat and one of the guys trying to belt it out while the crew rushed around frantically. When it all suddenly came back online, crowd went berserko!!)
