Cloth Modifier Development Website

59

Cloth ModifierDo you remember the Cloth Modifier? Well, it's still in development by Todd Koeckeritz (zaz) and Daniel Genrich (genscher). Since the development is in progress, genscher have created a website to show the progress of the development, publish news about the project and receive donations, to support the development.

There are already some articles with news and tests for the Modifier, like a video showing the simulation of a Flag reacting with the Wind.

You can visit the website here.

  1. i generally find the soft body simulation works great for cloth simulations. a proper clothes simulation would be nice though.

i can do those types of effects on that website with the softbody simulation right now

  2. Gord: Actually. You might, but a. it wouldn't be as fast, b. if you wanted it to collide with anything it SERIOUSLY wouldn't be fast, and the collisions wouldn't be optimized, meaning you might get faces showing through, c. softbodies do not come with triangulation, and d. there are in fact settings in there which soft-body doesn't have, one of which is a spring length setting, which means that you can make the garment shrink when the simulation is activated, so it fits like spandex instead of loose cloth.

All kinds of stuff is different, actually. :P

  3. @Gord:

In concur with Blackboe. Softbodies can be made to look like clothes, but proper cloth simulation can do things that softbodies simulation just can't do (like dragging a cloth around over the ground/ obstacles and dragging the cloth through obstacles etc. while buckling realistically). A proper cloth sim will run circles around the softbody sim.

Notwithstanding, even Genscher said somewhere that he finds the current softbody solution quite powerful and adequate to run cloth sims with.

  4. Does the clothe sim unify with rigid and soft bodies in Blender?

If no, I hope it will be soon.
Imagine the time saved if you could use Bullet without the GE, and make the object interact with a character who have soft body boobs wrapped in a nice tight t-shirt...

    :)

  5. I've been trying to make a donation but this German Paypal doesn't seem to accept my normal PayPal credentials. Any suggestions?

    Koba

  6. Hmm. It accepted mine okay. Have you paid internationally with that PayPal account before? There might be something you have to do the first time...

  7. Awesome, totally awesome. I tried to use it but none of my knowledge from previous versions was very helpful and I couldn't make anything, you know, work :P But still, it's very very nice to see the project is not dead.

  8. Stumbled across your post while searching through google. I read the beginning and its fantastic! I don't have time to read it all now, but I have bookmarked this site and will read the rest tonight. : )

  10. online business marketing is actually nearly all about the numbers of other internet pages linking to your page. when not having those inlinks you will be engaged in a futile task. this became clear to me not long after joining what is actually i believe the best semi-automatic web page link building software on the web ... promoting website

  11. My partner and i create electronics for our craft time. Crystek Microwave a short while ago arrived on the scene with a new line of VCOs and SAW oscillators that are wonderful.

  12. Do you Have Problem In Cashing Out Your Money From Paypal? Paypal always take tax, fee every time you withdraw to your credit card, bank? All these problems could be resolved easily with my method and you can withdraw your money 1:1 ratio without losing even a cent. Furthermore, you could even get some commission if you have enough patient to wait.
