2 Blender Workshops in Richmond, Virginia

6

handturkey.gifRoughly 6 months from their first workshop offering, Hand Turkey Studios will be holding two Blender training workshops this month on consecutive weekends. Both classes are considered 'Basics' level classes, though they do build upon each other and even offer a few tricks that more experienced users would find helpful.

From the website:

Blender Basics

Time: 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Location: Apex Digital (900 West Broad St., Richmond, VA 23221 - map)

Basics II: Organic Modeling & Materials

Time: 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Location: Apex Digital (900 West Broad St., Richmond, VA 23221 - map)
Cost: $50, payable via Cash, Check or Credit Card via Paypal

Also, we are offering a $10 discount if you attend both workshops!

If you're interested in attending, please send an email to [email protected].

Descriptions of each of these workshops can be found on the Workshops page of this site. Copies of Blender for all modern computing platforms and all files used in the workshop will be made available on DVD for course participants.

There is limited space available, so please confirm your attendance early.

These workshops will be held in a different location than their previous ones, but with better facilities, including more computers on-site and a large projection screen that should be easier to see. There has been fairly strong attendance in previous workshops and attendees have ranged from pure beginners to professionals and educators in animation, television production, and even engineering.

Full disclosure: Fweeb is a co-founder and member of Hand Turkey Studios.

  1. Why is it that every time training comes up someone comes in and says it is too expensive or hints at it. I think $50 a day is a steal.

  2. I think it's great to see enough interest to run these classes. I took some SolidWorks classes a few years ago at a "dicounted price for educators" of about $100 per day. Seems like $50 is the magic number for Blender because that's what our district settled on for our classes (Blender classes in Harrisburg, PA)

As Blender becomes more competitive, we'll have to charge more like the big boys do! (just kidding)

The price for the classes likely has to deal with renting a room etc. There was not many people when I went previously, and I think the price was well worth it myself, even if I already knew a fair amount of what was covered in the basic class. I wish I was going to be around for the advanced class but sadly I am on contract elsewhere again this time around;)
