Indeed! To make some of the great submissions shown in that thread, I need at least advance notice of at least one or two years ;-)

Is there a way to put your own splash screen in without compiling it? just make it an jpg in the blender folder for example.

Hey all: I just followed the link to the definition of splash screen (I was really bored at work) and they have link to a GUIdebook of splash screens. Under 3D software they only have Max and Maya (and max has probably the most boring splashes around.) We should upload Blender's They are way better than most of the stuff on the site.
