Game: Max-xion

17

screen2.JPGHere's one of the nicer Blender games I've seen in a while: Max-xion by p00f. It's a bit of a mashup of several games such as Astrosmash, Breakout and Asteroids. A great way to waste away a few hours at work while waiting for the weekend ;-)

Instructions:

Greetings!

Welcome to 2048....

Every doomsday prediction has come true! To save the human race you must take the mother ship to the star system Max-xion. Protect the mother ship at all costs. Mine energy from the asteroids and UFO's to survive. You will get 3 mine balls to begin with, don't let the ball hit the mother ship or the bottom of the screen. As always, you only get 1 life, so dont run into things with the spaceship.

  • collect energy for ammo
  • collect health for more life
  • collect 100 coins for free ball.

Controls:

  • Mouse movement- Padle left and right.
  • Mouse movement- Crosshair up and down.
  • Ball english- Left or right mouse button.
  • Ball move down- Both left and right buttons.
  • Death ray- Q W E, left, both, center.
  • Chaingun- A S D, left, center, right.
  • Doomsday bomb- Z C, left right
  • R- restart game
  • Esc- universal quit game

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. @madman, just get the blend file and drop it on top of the blenderplayer.exe

  2. WOW!

    @ madman

  3. I made a reply about how much I dislike the wasting of hours to wait before the weekend statement. and why I feel it isn't appropriate. it was about 7 sentences, only the first one shows. it mentioned the time I flamed someone here, and how I was really really sorry about it, and how I think this state of thinking is just as bad if not worse.

  4. Don't know what happened then, my point is that "A great way to waste away a few hours at work while waiting for the weekend" is just an extremely bad point of view, I really hope you don't really mean that. People who think like that should try one of the jobs people generally have a bad opinion about. A "low level job", like collecting garbage or working at a conveyor belt or something. And try to actually KEEP that job. Because it is so frustrating when people look down on these job when they are actually lazy as hell and don't have the slightest clue about how hard it is, what working hard really means. Mostly they just "radiate" a lack of discipline themselves but are considered "succesful".
It's far worse than flaming people at a forum. Pease don't say things like that.

  5. Nice Job! I could see myself wasting an entire roll of quarters in a stand-up arcade game like this. Pretty fun! It's a little bit too much "13 year-old-kid after he's drunk 3 Red Bull's and had 5 pixie sticks" for an old guy like me tho-- But a big tip of the cap to you for all your hard work and a very nice looking finished product!

    Joe

PS- My 10 year old daughter likes it too!
PPS, no, she doesn't get to drink Red Bull, and we have a 2 pixie stick limit in my house 8-)
