Bob Holcomb, whom you may remember from his workshop on video compositing and garbage matting at Siggraph, is hosting a series of Blender compositing contests at BlenderArtists. The theme of the first round is 'The Elements!' - using Blender create your best effect that captures one or more elements (earth/wind/fire/water).
The winner will receive a copy of 'The Art and Science of Digital Composition' by Ron Brinkmann, courtesy of Morgan Kaufmann. Check out the contest thread on BlenderArtists for the full contest description and rules. Deadline of this round is March 31st.
Great job, Bob! I'm looking forward to the results!

This is a great idea! Good luck to all!
I agree wiih grafixsuz, Good luck! I can't wait to see the results.
It would also be pretty nice to see some tutorials from how people accomplished their "elements"
Let's hope RobertT picks up on this.
I'm still in awe at what can be done with compositing in Blender, I almost held a party to celebrate when I got a bloom effect (took about 3 days to work out but that's another story!)
Good luck to all those who enter, should see some incredible results.
This sounds great but I think we need to ammend the rules so Wu cant submit thong poses under the guise of being with the elements....i mean I would just rather not see where the wind blows or any unfortunate water displays... terracotta nappies could be acceptable I suppose if we cant reform him totally
