I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Seeing the look on your face it seems like giving this gift for others is the best gift you could ask for after a year of working on this site, great to see that you enjoy this :-)

  3. Heh, *now* let's hear the doubters who thought Bart was gonna embezzle our hard earned cash money and head for the hills. ;)

Seriously though, thanks for putting this together and sharing a five minute video Oxfam gratitude experience with the rest of us.

    Radiate positive vibes, peace.

    Barton

  4. That's really neet. hey that's really cool to know... I'm gonna sound the pessimist saying this, please believe me when I say this vid gave me a grin from ear to ear, but aaaaaaall these cards, you had better put these to use! Dig untill you find enough friends and family (and occasions) to send those cards and stuff too. It's fun to see oxfam do this, but that stuff's also gotta be bought and printed on paper for single use etc. so in a way it's a bit of a waste. So do make good use of it!

  5. Aww after many years, I finally get to see your face! Oh how your eyes were glowing!!! It made me proud of being a part of this donating project. I'm really glad I did contribute something! Thank you!

  6. Hey bart, ask them if they can send you some photos once they finish the school, that would be cool.

How and additionally we can send them a nice sponsoring flag of BlenderNation, hehe.

Great to see you, these videos are quite fun to watch, I just love to see you playing the actor, it was quite fun at BConf and now this, hehe.

  7. I'm happy to see my donation made for fun mail. And um.. I would like a magnet, actually if you've got a butt-ton of them.

It's great to see your face again, Bart. As I was reading over the list of contributors for 2.43 (which was more recently linked from the release notes), I realized I've learned a lot of screen names and real name connections. It's like a big family. In the same vein, video blogs are fun, and spice things up. I'd really like to see more of them in the future. But do take example from Ze Frank and also post up the text for everything you say as to help those that are deaf (Google nor the blendernation.com search engine have ears to search your spoken words)..

Tangent: Speaking of shipping, I ordered some of those stickers from the e-shop the day that they were announced here. Did anyone else and actually get them? I'm still waiting for some reason.

  8. That's a lot of fridge magnets! Great vid, great to see the follow up from Oxfarm and especially the blendernation.com community certificate. Great work Bart & all!

  9. I agree with Bmud about text. I'm deaf too and I'd love to know what you said! Nevertheless, it was still worth it seeing your "awwww!" face. :D

  10. @crazybus: If you have Firefox, you can search for the plugin "Unplug", which downlads all media...
But actually, it's a googlevideo, so you may can download it from there...

  11. Bart, that was awesome man. Thanks for the nice vid.

@BMud: I ordered stickers the same day they were announced here, and they arrived three days ago.

Now I have Blender on my shirt, on my keychain, on my car, on my laptop...

What can I say? I'm addicted.

  12. @Crazybus

you did download it, look in your temporary internet files and you'll find it, the one with a lfv extension.

Then you could play it with the latest free and superb VLC (free vid player), not only that if you open the file in VLC as a stream you can convert it to MOV or MPG etc.

    Hope that helps
