Blender.org E-shop: New Products

18

newproducts.jpgWe were contacted by Anja, the manager of the Blender.org E-shop today. She told me that they now have three new products available in the shop: a PDF version of the 2.3 Guide, the French 'La 3D Libre avec Blender' and *gasp* new stickers! Nothing too shocking, but if you're looking for a way to support the Blender Foundation, why not send yourself a little gift?

Here's some more info on the new stuff:

  • Downloadable Blender 2.3 Guide (€ 12,-). Although the 2.3 Guide is still valid as a reference for Blender, it is not going to reprint anymore. Instead a pdf is made available now. This downloadable pdf is identical to what was used to print the books.
  • La 3D Libre avec Blender (€ 33,-). This new book about Blender by Olivier Saraja is available in France since october 2006. The Blender Foundation received a small batch of copies to sell in the Blender store. More about this book in our review.
  • Stickers (€4,-). Six Blender logo stickers, printed on plastic and cut out with white "jacket". Fits great on notebooks, computers and bumpers!

I've already got a bunch of those stickers here at my desk and they look great! (Although I still can't bring myself to slap one on my new MacBookPro :-). Oh, and Anja mentioned that there are only *seven* copies of 'La 3D Libre avec Blender' in stock so if you want one, better hurry up!

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. I just ordered the stickers ! I kept meaning to make my own set, but just never got around to it. going on
the trusty tablet pc.. and probably on my desktop case too. Maybe someone should make a spray can template of the blender logo for tagging things with. hah

  2. metalliandy: It's actually good that its out of date: means a lot of development is going on! :) And good thing the pdf-s are made available once the book is out of print!

  3. I want to say that the basics are ever the basics.

After using Blender for almost 3 years, I have more than 20 ring binder of printed tutorials, on two shelves.

However I often still open Blender 2.3 guide !

It's often the quickest way to remember something.

  4. some shirts with the blender logo would be nice to, like the ones blendernation has....it could be white shirt with the blender logo on the chest just like those stickers, except these shirts should have orange arms instead of grey.....would buy a couple from that....my size is xl... :)

  5. Looking within my mind I see a bus in Los Angeles passing by on the corner of 5th and Broadway going south with a Blender sticker on it that is mine and I can not for the life of me recall placing it. Was that bus the 40 or the 30? Even that now is hard to ascertain. The sun is low in the evening sky casting those long shadows as the evening dose in this part of American. Spellbound I stand trying to remember when this was done but can not. Smiling is all that is possible watching that bus pass by into the future that may never be seen by me again.

"Blender forever..." I whisper in the silent wind with no one hearing at all. "Blender forever..!".

  6. A lot of copies of the french book "La 3D Libre avec Blender" has already been sold in french speaking countries, but I hope there are still a few buyers who will be interested in buying this book from the Blender Fondation.

These sales are 100% benefit for the Fondation, as the books are a gift to them! So please do not hesitate: buying these books is like directly funding the Fondation! :-)

BTW, the book has been reviewed here: http://www.blendernation.com/2006/10/09/new-french-blender-book-released/

  7. I ordered the book via the local bookshop. I don't read one word French, but with the webtranslators I can understand what's it about.

    Nice book.

  8. I tried to purchase a Blender cap from the Blender.org e-shop, but after placing my order they told me that they no longer have caps. Does anyone have or know where I can get a Blender cap? Let me know: jacob at remnantstudios dot com

    Thanks!
