2.43 RC1 Released

56

uvnode_small.jpgWith the availability of release candidate 1, we're getting that much closer to the final release of the much anticipated Blender 2.43.

The release of 2.43 beta shows that the developers are in the final stages of testing, and from the changes that have been made, Blender users should start testing, testing, testing.  You can find the builds for all operating systems here.  If you do find something amiss when working with RC1, be sure to post the problem to the bug tracker.

  1. Ok. its Beta version..but why the splash is not changed.....anyway...of course the 2.43 beta works quite good and significantly faster (for me..)...but from outside it looks a little bit not fished (for example sculpt mode like CVS builds has no icon..and there other small things...,..But of couse it has a lot of cool new features./..THAnXXXXXXXXXXXX!!!!!!!!I love all the community!!!!!

  2. Ausis, the rc1 builds are built directly from cvs so there shouldn't be any differences.
Let us know about the small things though.

  3. I have to check this out, but is thare a linux 64-bit version going to be released.
I'm currently using 2.41 as the last to come out of the 64-bit platform.

    Little bug:

C:\Program Files\Blender Foundation\Blender2_43RC1\.blender\icons: no such file or directory

And yes I know, it's on Win.

  4. Hey guys,
perfect releases, but i want to ask things like..
the new Jahka particle system..will be include on 2.43?
and some scripts like the normal UV map exporter or Vertex?
i think that this version is better than other^^ without some problems..
    perfect..congratulations
    thanks

and what is about FFmpg - support for Windows!!

Ahh!.. another Question:....i see in the Plumiferos Build a "Stamp" Button in the Output Panel in the Blender- Render Buttons....why this is not Integrated?
I think its very Usefull for Film makers!

    Thanks!

  7. In my first "test flight", it seems to be much, much faster render on my old, but releable PIIIM laptop. Thank yoy...thank you and a hearty well done.

Regarding to this bug, can be fixed werry easy making another .blender directory inside the .blender directory already existing and moving in this new directory the icons directory. You need to have this: \.blender\.blender\icons , and will work.

  9. Part of it you can see in Tuhopuu3, part of it is in Matt and Tons heads, and part of it is yet to be designed yet :)

Tuhopuu3 is a project from 2004-2005 and from then has no activity. Where we can find a 2.43 build with Tuhopuu3 pach? Please post a link if exist.

  11. Lets count:

With a release every ~6 month, when we can expect the 2.50 one?

    2.43 - almoust done.
    2.44
    2.45
    2.46
    2.47
    2.48
    2.49
    2.50 - 3 years?

  12. you misunderstood - some of the interface concepts were prototyped in tuhopuu3

things like the custom menus and button bar, and some of the look and improvements to the layouts of some things.

If you have an interest in the UI redesign please feel free to post proposals.

  13. hmmm no Intel versions work for me, just my own cvs version I made..

And the preview window redraw bug has not been fixed.... :(

  14. LetterRip: "If you have an interest in the UI redesign please feel free to post proposals."

Is somewere a dedicated forum thread for the new UI (proposals, etc.) ?

Regards to Tuhopuu3 I sowit recently a movie presentation for this. Is impressive. This feature, in conjunction with Gimps live shortuts remap feature will rock.

  15. i don't really know if it is a bug or something like that but every time i try to make a render with yafray without the xml option blender crashes to desktop and i get this message on the console
    /usr/bin/blender: line 46: 10161 Segmentation fault blender-bin "$@"
this also happened with the previous official cvs edition but not with builds downloaded from graphicall.org
i'm on an athlon xp, debian testing
(and i'm too lazy to file a report)

Ok it's a workaround, but still, why is it not in the installer if it's required by Blender?

And what is more, what is the directory for?

Just saw it, and it was asked to report bugs, however small.

  17. Is there a chance we can renderbake tangentspace normalmaps in 243 or is this a feature for the next version (or am I simply to stupid to find the right button to enable it in blender :)) ?

  18. tangent space normal map generator is unlikely for this release, however there is a script which does them available in the forums (requires a free gpled external tool).

  19. I don't know if this is a bug but the very first thing I noticed is the way the mouse pointer behaves in the whole application (v. 2.43 RC1) compared to v. 2.42. I have a Wacom Sapphire CTE-430 pen tablet. In version 2.42 of Blender, I would be able to move the pointer with the mouse, lift the mouse to reposition it on the tablet and the pointer would continue it's path from where I had left it. Now, Blender seems to restore the pointer in an absolute relation to the mouse position on the tablet.

In other words, to get from one end of the screen to the other, I have to physically move the mouse across the entire tablet where I didn't have to do that before.

I hope the explanation is clear enough...

    BTW, outstanding project guys!!!

  20. seems that blender 2.43 will not run or will be not available for Vista 64Bit?
Does anybody know if it works, because Vista will be available in a few weeks!
My next system may be a Vista machine with a quadCore CPU.
That's the reason for my second question, about threads.
Blender 2.42 only support dualcore systems? or I'm wrong?
At the moment I've got just a singlecore winXP solution, so I can't try them by myself.
    please help me!

  21. Blender will be octo threaded out of the box for rendering, so a quad core should be fine. Most other parts are not threaded though.

It runs fine on vista from what I've heard.

  22. Sorry about reporting it here, but I couldn't post it on the bug tracker...

I was testing the new RC1 release and I don't know if it is really a bug but when I try to use the "Multires" function my Blender Crashes.. I tried here in my Athlon XP 2400+ and after tried on a Pentium 4 3000HT and both crashed.

Here are the video I took to show what I did:
    (a video worth thousand words =P )

    http://www.4shared.com/dir/1678237/ad6a24db/Blender_Stuff.html

There is also a print screen of the message Blender reported in the try.

I hope it helped.. Any further info just ask me.

    Thanks!

  23. Why does everyone want a new user interface? I love the current one, and if it goes away I will kill to get the other one back!

Just because you want Blender to be a "Normal Program," doesn't mean you need to actually bring Blender down to the "Normal," level.

Great work! I'm going to download and test it out right now!

  24. I agree with Tynach, I don't miss a different UI! But of course, some rework is needed. I don't like that there are some functions which are only available in the drop down menus (I hate them).

Anyway, great work! Thanks to all the coders for their effort! I love the render passes. This is a very powerful tool. And it is sooo easy to create alpha masks with the new IndexOB!

  25. I thought it should be 2.5 for the next ...
And that it will be renderman compliant ...

but transparent multi layer files is really an amazing feature ! great !
render baking and uv layers too !

I'll send max to the thrash, yeah !

Thanks a lot to all coders ...

I just wonder how to save anims with multi layers, passes and channels ?

  26. Oh yeah!

love the locking function in the action editor, but is there some way I can lock all in one go (or unlock) and only unlock (or lock) the channels i need?

  27. I'm waiting for the UI redesign. Maybe for the users that use blender on the beginning, this is not a problem, but for new users (these that comes from other 3d packages, like me) trying to found on Blender a multiplatform, cheaper alternative, the UI is very very bad. Watch all others 3d packages and you see a coherence between them. Then, you see Blender, and it's not very friendly.
    My two cents
