Sacha Goedegebure's Man in Man

17

title-mim.jpgThe line from the Monty Python's Flying Circus "And Now for Something Completely Different" comes to mind when I was watching Sago's 2006 Suzanne Award Winner Man in Man animation for the first time. I love humor that is “off the wall”, something that takes you by surprise and Man and Man captures that spirit.

In Man and Man, Sacha has taken a unusual concept and turned it into an event, like an Eric Clapton or Robben Ford guitar solo. A simple melody, one or two notes hanging in the air. It's simple but says a lot. So if you haven't already watched it, check out Man in Man and also visit Sacha's gallery for more of his off the wall humor.

  1. Yeah the first time I saw this movie was on the Suzanne Awards at BConf. I think everyone there heard me laughting out loud because of that animation. :P It really was one of the funniest animations, really worth an award. :D

  2. i'm a huge sago fan. Any chance for a blendernation interview with him? I'd love to learn more about his work flow in blender. :-)

  3. Rex,

The fire is about 60 miles east from from where I live and there is a lot of smoke and ash in the air here. The fire is whipped up by the Santa Ana winds which happen this time of year. That is when the winds switc directions and blows from the east deasert area to the Paciic Ocean. Which reminds me of a joke -

The four seasons in Sothern Caliornia are : Floods, fires and earthquakes :-p

Jazzdalek, good idea, I'll see what I can do.

  5. Congrats with yet another mention on Blendernation, Sago! Love your artwork and fantastic sense of humor (I might have said that before, but doesn't hurt repeating it)!

Keep things like these coming in the future, man! You're one of the best Blenderheads out there - in my opinion at least! ;)

  6. I love this animation. Its a "simple" scene but the animation is really good.
The stills in his gallery are offering a wide field of high quality works ( toon till realistic )
    i combination with good humor.
I hope we can see more of that in future!

  7. I just saw this before I got to this post watching the art festival. I liked the film. I was curious though why the logo is in Japanese but the voices were very "southern" American. Either way it was awesome. Oh and I want a Ton Roosendaal action figure. Now.
