I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Well, I have just had time to see "Video 3000", and a funny thing happened when the character ckicked for the first time on the remote control : my PC has rebooted !

Obviously, I found it funny only after viewing the movie completely !o)

    Philippe.

  2. I'm very happy to present as the founder of Webcuts the Special Award at the Blender Conference in Amsterdam :)

BTW: Devinne Application was modeled in Blender too.

  3. ElBarto: Nope, I'm afraid I didn't model Divine Application in Blender (it was modelled and animated in Maya 7), but I did all the editing and a decent part of the post production in Blender. And let me say this: Blender's sequence editor absolutely absolutely rocks :) I did use plenty of other open source software too - I also used Gimp, Terragen, and DrQueue.

Well done to all the guys and gals behind Elephants Dream, it's a well-deserved award. If the award had to go to anyone, I'm glad it was you! :)

  4. Congratulations Elephant's Dream - you're film is extrordinary and any such awards as this are of course going to be pretty subjective. In my opinion your production rivals any $100 + million dollar production I've seen in any movie theatar or DVD! You guy srock.

  5. O brother,... Elephant dreams ?????
I thought the movie was called Elephants Dream?

Is there a jury report somewhere on why ED won this price?
Seems to me it was #1 in the category Orange OpenSource Creative Commons (yes the OOCC), o right, it was also the only movie in that category... :(
Can't ED win a real price somewhere?

  6. omg, Tyger is awesome!! sweet sweet sweeeeeeeet!

joeri: yep, it's always a bit sad when they have to come up with a category when they don't know what to do :) but also fun. i'm very used to that though.
