Collada 1.4 Script Released With Armature Support
After some quiet reflection on how to support armatures, Illusoft has released an update to their Collada 1.4 plugin for Blender (now version 0.3.91) with – guess what – beta armature support, and the following features/bug fixes:
Features
BETA – Armature import (no skinning)
import Polylists
import Textures for Transparency
Bugfixes
- tags contain both and tags, schema violation & causes problems with other importers: EQUATION = ‘equation’ missing
- missing u’Materials’ key causes import failure, can we continue and report a warning?
- lacks ‘sid’ attridute, and lacks ‘body’ attribute
- Importer not handling COLLADA 1.4.1 files (even simple ones)
- Import functionality with Daz Exporter ver 1.4.1
- Polylists were not importing corrrect
Post issues to the Illusoft forum. Remember, an updated Collada importer/exporter, is a happy Collada importer/exporter.

committed to CVS,

@All
I’ve updated the posted to include the newest update that Pieter did – it’s hard to keep up with him sometimes. Hopefully no one will mind that I changed the post 10 hours after I posted it.
Hi Eugene,
I saw the Array Exploration Video and was asking myself how the Desktop Wallpaper in the back was done?
@Marcus
I can actually better answer your question with this link:
http://www.blendernation.com/2006/08/11/mathias-pedersens-starry-night-tutorials/
The image was actually done by Mathias and his site has the image and the tutoirals on how he made it. The minute I saw his image I immediately made it my background on all my machines.
Shoot, I just realized my background is different now. The image on the aray demo was actually from devianart I think. But I am sure it was made with Apophysis (http://www.apophysis.org/) – though I don’t know the details.
i think i read somewhere that your importer/exporter also supports physics? how does this work? what is possible with that?
Amazing. :-)
Thanks, Pieter!
Just too bad the script does not work since quite a while time (at least not in 2.43). But there is hope:
