kids playing rpgs.jpgAre you anywhere close to São Paulo, Brasil?  Are you looking for Blender workshops for yourself or your children? Then Plan to attend the "Game Cultura" event!

Francisco Ortiz (chico) writes:

A very cool event is being realized in my hometown: It is an event called "Game Cultura." The event started June 29 and goes to August 30. It's about games and open source development and its relation with Brasilian culture. People have free access to join and participate this event thats is being realized inside a cultural center named "SESC Pompéia." Once inside they are able to play a lot of games (some of them open source, others not) and participate in a lot of workshops. The workshop's subjects are all about using open source tools.

You can access the general schedule here.

We are going to have activities/workshops related to Blender on July 11-14, 18-19, and 27-28. The total of Blender workshop activities: 28 hours. This total will be distributed in two workshops aimed for adults and one for children. The idea is to teach people how to use Sharpconstruct and Blender as a "combo" tool.

So be prepared to go, have fun, and to learn by attending the Blender workshops!

  1. well, it is BRASIL (with S) for the people from Brasil, but outside the country I guess they know as Brazil (with Z). The same occurs to other names.. (Italy for example is Italia, Nippon is Japan).. In my opinion we should call the nation as it is called in its original country.

About the event: It is really important that we have this kind of meetings here in Brasil, even more that is dealing with opensource software, this incentives the young guys to look for alternatives to make their projects, just for fun or for culture.

  2. I keep getting surprised at how much Blender activity there is in Bra(s/z)il, yet I'm sure we're still missing most of it. Would anyone be interested in writing a 'Blender Around the World' report for Brazil for us?

  3. Z or S? Always a question. Because in fact the stantart inside Blender community, and other communities arround the world is to speech English. (Or something like English, as this message, for example, lol :)).

@Bart: Our public institutions are waking up for Blender recently. Iam tring to get in touch with facilityes that are able to offer studies for "free" (i mean, the word "public" means that people already paid for that in their taxes and don't need to pay it again ;).
Most 3D workshops that is being offered now to students needs to be paid (again) over here. This is quite complicated in a country with concetrated amounts of money and very low tech activities like Brasil. Thats why Blender comes in handle. It is able to work quite good in low plataforms, so it is very important to get people included.

I think iam not the right person to give you a nice feedback about all that is being made inside Brasil to decrease our diferences. In fact iam not able to give just a feedback about what Brasilians are making with Blender. I can give just small and unadorned tips about my neighbourhood. :( ;)
