YafRay 0.0.8 Comprehensive Release Notes

7

YafRay.pngYou may have heard the agonizing screams of those learning YafRay. You may also have heard the sullen whispers speaking of YafRay's slow return from the netherworld. Whatever you may have heard or believe, YafRay is an integral part of Blender and still used by a great many people. Read on for the most comprehensive notes on YafRay features and use in the known universe!

Claus Andersen and Alvaro Luna have written up the most detailed release notes that you will likely see on YafRay. Irradience caching, DOF, fake SSS? Oh yeah, it's covered. Claus and Alvaro also explain how Blender parameters are translated into Yafray XML files, and which parameters are YafRay features that can be only accessed by XML editing. I'm sure after reading these notes you might want to take another look at YafRay if you're not currently using it, simply because of the features that you might not have known where there.

  1. I thought I would give it a more dramatic feel :) Especially since there are so many "Is YafRay Dead?" posts (hence it coming back from the dead).

  2. I recently did some Playing with YafRay's HDR Texturing and Got Super Excited about the Killer Output... Pretty Amazing ! Thanks !
Have been testing some of the NewBee Blender 242 PreReleases for Windows & Linux...

On Windows 242-Preview24... ALL the Blender Global BackGround Tools and Textures WORKED... Just Like they do with the Blender Engine....
    WOW... TOTALLY COOL...

( And Then ) In ALL the Later Builds... YafRay STOPPED Rendering Blender Global BackGound & Texture Effects... ( Very Sad )...
Now that we've Seen it Done... Hopefully... The Next Release of Blender will have YafRay fully operational AGAIN !

YafRay is an AWESOME Rendering Engine...

    Much Thanks,
    Orion

  3. Great intro to the documents ^_^

I really hope this will make more people contribute to yafray and post renders on the forums.
