Brazilian Blender Book Released Today

11

guia_de_usario.jpgGreat news for Brazillian and other Portuguese speaking Blender users: as of today there is a Blender book titled 'Blender 3D - Guia do Usuário' available in your own language! The book is aimed both at the beginning and the advanced Blender user and it counts 448 pages.

To get a taste of it, try the following sample content:

We were contacted by the author Allan Brito and we had a chance to talk with him about the creation of his book.

Can you introduce yourself?

I'm an architect and I also teach 3D modelling and animation in a technology school called Unibratec. I work with Blender since 2003 for my architectural projects and teach how work with Blender since 2005.
Blender is my main work tool in my architectural projects, since I am devoted the creation of electronic models. Besides with the support of Unibratec I motivate the use of Blender to create 3d models and animation for all our students.

Why did you write this book?

My students always asked me if there was any kind of book who teach how to use Blender from scratch in portuguese. I always had to answer that none existed. Then I decided to write this book to aid the Brazilian community and my students too! ;) Besides that I like to teach and think that Blender is an incredible tool! So I used my teaching experience and I was inspired to write the book! All that use Blender, from the beginners to the advanced users can take advantage the book. I tried to put all my experiences as a teacher and a professional into building this book.

How long did it take you to produce this book?

I began to work in the book in December of 2005. The largest challenges that I found in those months went to find time firstly to write and to research the new tools of Blender, that you don't have any documentation type. Some tools are documented, but very summarized and that doesn't teach how to use the tools.

How does this book compare to the Blender Guide and to the content in the online wiki?

The book follows the same philosophy as the Blender Guide. The objective is to teach to the users how to use the tools of Blender and not only to describe their parameters. In my opinion that is the largest flaw of the existent documentation in the wikipedia.

How did you find a publisher?

I talked with several publishers that could be interested in publishing the book and I was impressed with the work that Novatec do, here in Brazil, motivating and publishing books on open source software.

Where can people buy it?

Anybody interested in the book can access the website of Novatec to buy the book.

Would you do it again?

Of course I would! This was my first book, but I already have other projects to create more books involving Blender! My next book will involve the creation of games.

Is there anything else you would like to mention?

Well, I believe a lot in Blender and that their tools are as good as the existent ones in the best softwares 3D of the market!

I hope everyone who reads the book will like it a lot! :)

This is great, I will buy a copy of the Book as a Portuguese guy and as the Lead person in Education.

I just hope we can see more of this things happening.

  2. Sounds great. I wish a book like this existed in English!

Although there is a multitude of tutorials and of course the blender guide, there is no one cohesive book or multimedia presentation that provides a unified project approach to showing you how to intergrate and make effective use of all of the tools in blender. I agree that the blender guide doesn't do a good job of explaining how to actually use the program in a real-world production environment (and I don't necessarily mean a professional environment).

I think it would be great to have a book written around, say, elephants dream, showing you how to use blender in a real world production environment, although ironically elephants dream may actually be a bit much for such a concept!

  3. It's a shame that this book isnt in english, this looks like an excellent book.
The diagrams are clear and the information is concise (from what I could piece together from my knowledge of other latin languages)

I would definitely buy a translated copy of this book :D

  4. It's exactly what I've been looking for to start the learning of Blender from scratch.
Pretty good stuff to people like me that live in Brazil and have great interest in Blender and 3D design.
    Parabéns Allan!!

  5. Hey!
Theres also this book called "Modelagem e Animação com Blender", ÉRICA, William Pereira Alves,
