kml/kmz Import Scripts Version 0.1.6

7

nfill_vertexmode_import.jpgjms has posted updates to his kml/kmz import scripts (version 0.1.6 released June 5th) for importing SketchUp And Google Earth files into Blender. I waited to post about this because I was thinking that jms, always working amazingly fast to update his scripts, would put out a new version again.

Since he's let us catch our breath, I'll post it now! Here are the changes from the site:

__version__ = "0.1.6, june 05, 2006" :

  1. out of all the python scripts you could have made a story about you had to spam this one again.

    There is a reason there is a Free and a non free version of sketch... they are expecting to make money from the application from people who want to export the models. I expect to see some lawsuits in the future if this script gets really popular.

    Once again the open source alternitave could be viewed as a way for people to do piracy. Things like this give open source a bad name.
    God I hope that the American news media dose not hear about this... they are already slamming Linux and Open Office as ways for people to use propriatory formats without paying for them. (Mpeg 3 , flash ,and GIFF spacificaly)

    Could someone please send the editor a list of other blender forums? Elisun is well known for its favoritism to Christian standards and censorship, I really dont think that it is fair that the entire Blender community should be represented by the content of elysun. There are many many more places where blenderheads post news and scripts. Lots of them do not reflect American Christian standards or beliefs... you can post models of the human body without labeling as obscene,nudity, filth, or SINFUL in the title. (If people don't want to see this content they can install internet filters! Why do we all have to comply with their narrow maxims and standards? If they dont want their children to see this type of content they should have installed the proper filters in the first place... Giving a child a unrestricted access makes about as much sense as giving them a loaded gun or a motor vehicle without proper safety training and restrictions. )

    Off the top of my head I know of 3 new python scripts that are NOT listed in Elysun!

    PS (i have nothing against Christ or Christianity or Christians in general. As long as they keep it to themselves and don't inflict their convictions on normal people. )

  2. @p00f: I fail to see the relationship between this script and 'Christian favoritism' on elysiun, but in all honesty: if you think we're missing out on interesting scripts, all you have to do is click on 'contact' at the top of this page and tell us about it.

    If you're worried about lawsuits go talk to the creator of the script.

  3. pOOf

    Like your name suggests, you are a poof. Nothing in Open Source is original. I bet you don't have a problem using .obj do you. What about nurbs, or bezier curves or .jpg for that matter. All of these technologies were developed by people to make money, and thus were pirated into everyday usage. No different. If your conscience is getting to you, quite using Open Source all together. It makes you a hypocrite.
