SharpConstruct 0.12 RC 2 Polygon Painter Released

14

head.jpgThe latest SharpConstruct (a 3D modeling program that paint depths on to polygon models in real-time) was released on April 29th with several fixes. (Image by TorQ)

  • Fixes several bugs with rotation and the draw brush.
  • Simplified wireframe drawing.
  • The red cursor is now drawn in immediate mode rather than with display
    lists.
  • Using the draw brush with layer + colorize activated now behaves as expected when a portion of the model is masked.
  • After clicking the Center button, or after using the Zoom slider, Simple
Rotation's data is updated to avoid unexpectedly rotating the model.
  • Windows shows correct version number in about box.

Very impressive fixes on top of 0.12 RC 1's lengthly list of enhancements. Check out this thread on BlenderArtitsts for some nice SharpConstruct action from TorQ (along with a review and tips) and BgDM!

  1. Hmm, you know what bugs me about this software? You need to download 3 files. That's already against my "downloading, installing, using" philisophy. I'm not the "downloading x3, installing x3, configuring, fustrating, using" type of guy.

Isn't there a "stand allone" "one install" "out of the box" solution for this kind of stuff? Having to depend on an OS is already bad enough ;)

    Huh? oh please....

This software is really _REALLY_ awsome, lets hope googles summer of code will help this get into blender...

  3. @Logan: that's not a philosophy, but laziness ;-) This software is still in pre-beta, so would you rather have them focus on a slick installer, or on better functionality?

  4. 2 logan:
out of the box... one install... one button... everything is crazy coloured...
maybe you are that guy who wants to spend a lot of money instead of using great open source stuff...
Be happy that dont need 2 compile it for yourself!!

so dont be mad and have a 2nd try...

  5. torq could make a nice video tut also about how to make a model like on the pic above with this prog...

WONDERFULL tool! Works great and its easy to integrate with Blender.

U just need to use the .obj script.

Thankx for the news TorQ and etr9j!

  7. Awesome stuff. It would really be nice to have this integrated into Blender. In any case, thanks for the post. Probably would've missed the update otherwise. :)

  8. It's a very nice tool.
About the libraries you need for it:
They dont break the Gimp on Win32.
    They are small downloads.
They improve stability with every new release( I first started using Sharp with Win ver 0.07-- the improvements have been amazing over a very short time)

I'm glad you have brought many more people's attention to this excellent app.

  9. Yeah it certainly looks cool. All I was trying to say is that it is not that difficult to make ( at least for us windown dummies ;) an installer that makes it stand allone. Heck I would want to help them making an installer with Inno Setup.

  10. this looks really cool! I tried the ubuntu dapper package, but unfortunatly it doesn't seem to work; even after installing a couple of missing dependencies, I get the interface, but none of the tools work.
I guess I might just have to compile it myself :)

  11. How can I get stuff from blender into SharpConstruct or the other way round?
Pls tell me that it's possible!

  12. mrCarnivore: Save and import .lwo files. Just add the file ending when saving even if it's not listed in the dialog.
