Blender Jobs

7

job.jpgThe professional 3D industry is slowly starting to discover Blender. Last month, two job opportunities have appeared on the BlenderArtist forum, and a new website has appeared that focuses solely on Blender jobs.

These two opportunities are:

  • The Dutch architectural and urban planning studio 'De Zwarte Hond' is looking for a 3D Artist/System administrator (which is a curious combination in my opinion) to work on visualisations of their architecture projects. The job is based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. You'll find the full job description on their website.
  • Sherman3D Sdn Bhd is a Malaysian multimedia content development company specializing in anime/manga style artwork. They are looking for a Blender artist to work on their upcoming game, Alpha Kimori (which we'll be reporting about later). The job is based in Malaysia. You'll find more information and a contact address on BlenderArtists.

While these two jobs have simply appeared on the BlenderArtists forums, the new website Blenderjobs.com is trying to bring Blender job demand and supply together.

Apart from fulltime jobs, they are also mediating between studios and artists or developers for work on a project basis.

OUR MISSION: YOU want a professional Project done in the third dimension. Be it a simple animation, a movie, a still image. Turn to very expensive agencies, or tap in to the resources of the Open Source Community and its thousands of experienced members.

YOU might also be a Professional 3D Artist in Blender. Looking for a Project? Want to make yourself known? Then join us!

Blenderjobs.com is the Marketplace for 3D Graphics Designers & Customers worldwide on the lookout for Professional 3D Design & Animation, specialised on the great Software Package BLENDER.

Their service is free, so if you are looking for a project or for someone to help you with one, you might want to give Blenderjobs.com a try.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.

  1. Good news! It looks like things are starting to come together for the Blender community. It's good to see things starting to really mature.

Nice. A few critcs for Blenderjobs.com:

-They don't have a "easy to see" search machine able to make an advanced search for developers. (LOCATION!, special habilities etc etc...).

-My opinion: the term "developers" is a litle confuse. Maybe its better to create some categories like: artists, coders, teachers, what else...

-No forum for general talk and sugestions about improving their web site. Need to have one.

BTW i was not able to reach "sherman 3d" from this post.

  3. all right...i fixed up the forums...i tuned the search lists for users...but most importantly...two agencies have posted jobs on the site.
hope the pace keeps up, am really glad all the effort was worth it ;-)

Awesome Denis! Thank you very much for using some of my sugestions. The search bar for "specialties" works great. I prefer the term "users" instead of "developers" ;).

But... why did you design a search machine for usernames (find user)? I can't get your point here... why this is usefull?

Supose you are the boss and need to form a team and find Blender users, so you need to be able to find someone just using keywords. Considering this, would be also usefull point the user or visitor, some tips on how to fill information inside your search machine.

Example (verb form): Continous X Infinitive

    "User A"
Specialties: "to draw" dinossaurs OR "drawing" dinossaurs.

  5. A 20 year 3D computer modeler and animator veteran and nothing has impressed me as much as Open Source software including Blender. The group of people behind this open source software that competes with Maya and many other top of the line software are pure saints. Open source software has always been the backbone of the film industry and now it is becoming the forerunner with Blender. Everyone wins! Very impressed.
