Mariano has posted a script for the storage, retrieval, and managing of all your materials, objects, textures, ipos, cameras, paths, worlds, and lamps and automaticly generates the preview image.
From the thread:
With this script you can easily store and retrieve all your materials, objects, textures, etc. You can also quickly share your stuff with other Blender users by using the built in import/export functionality.
Since this is a beta script, there are a few issues still to be resolved (a full python installation is required to use the import export functionality, the .blend file needs to be reopened after adding something, favorites aren't working, etc.), but it is still a powerful tool. Blender Library is certainly a great addition to anyone's Blender arsenal.

Whoo! Fancy!
"With this script you can easily You can also quickly share your stuff with other Blender users by using the built in import/export functionality."
You can easily what?
Sounds great, I am looking forward to the finished script :D
Good job Mariano!
Ah, I think we lost a piece of text in the copying process there. Fixed!
:D!!
Mariano Thanks for this Script!!Very Usefull!
If something like this can be Inegrated into Blender that would be also GREAT!!
seeYA
Yeah, Just like what Vassilios said, this intergrated into blender would be GREAT!
Mariano, thanks a lot!
This script is a must have to develop!
I hope it will be useful also as a Bin when Blender will be an NLE/compositor :-)
This is awesome.
the only thing is that every time i add a material, the python script error comes up.

A script such as this one could be used to access a central online repository of all kinds of Blender resources such as Python scripts, objects and materials. Imagine downloading Blender for the first time and having thousands of such objects at your fingertips!
I am imagining. It is GOOD. Yeeeeeeah. :)
Bart, that's a super cool idea! It would have to download the content you decided to use of course so you still have access to it offline.
Barryzz: Eh? Blender has had an NLE integrated for ages...
@Alexander: i say a friendly NLE Video/compositor. The actually sequencer has a lot of potentials, but absolutely it's not friendly for video editing.
Well, at least Orange did all their compositing and editing with it, so it must have some positive aspects ;-)
Thanks for posting the headline :)
There a new version... works perfect for me on XP (need to test on linux)
Be sure to check version 1.2.1 http://blender-stuff.byethost32.com/blender_library.py
and visit http://blender-stuff.byethost32.com/ where you can find dozens of items to download and import to the library :)
What the phlegm??? Original link= "File not found", and the stinking bytehost link is nothing but a never-ending pit full of spam. >:(
This rips.
See, that's why not only good programming, but also a tad of professionality in handling one's products helps ;-)
Soon a solution... I have received no notification why my site is down and replaced with spam.
I let you know people
