Tutorial: Softbody for Rigged Characters

1

pengzillaEnrico Valenza, winner of the animation award of the Blender Animation Festival 2005, has written a tutorial on the character animation of 'PengZilla', the dancing penguin/bird character in his winning movie.

You have to bring your own model to work on, but he covers many topics such as

  • Rigging the character
  • Setting up actions for the Non Linear Animation [NLA] tool
  • Working with weight groups
  • Setting bone influences

You'll find the tutorial on Enrico's site.

I have a LONG history with Blender - I wrote some of the earliest Blender tutorials, worked for Not a Number and helped run the crowdfunding campaign that open sourced Blender (the first one on the internet!). I founded BlenderNation in 2006 and have been editing it every single day since then ;-) I also run the Blender Artists forum and I'm Head of Community at Sketchfab.
