Tutorial: Making of Jaguar MK2

Pawel Cislo has written a tutorial on the modeling process of his model ‘Jaguar MK2′. Otávio “tatasoka” has translated it to Portuguese and hosts it together with the original English version.

From the tutorial:

This is a short overview of the process of making a detailed (and, hopefully, truthful) model of a car. I had modelled a few cars before (two in Lightwave, and one in Blender), but this one was my most ambitious project. First, I wanted it to be as detailed and truthful as possible. Second, this particular car model is really challenging: a unique, complex shape, lots of extra details (the incredible wheel spokes, the Jaguar mascot…). Which means modelling, modelling, modelling… and more modelling…

    first to say, wow! that’s incredible!
    I’ll have to follow that tutorial some time – I like how he’s using curves as a reference – that makes a lot of sense :)
    Thanks for the info!

    Actually, the original version is English :). Otavio of BlenderTotal asked me to write the Making Of for his blog and then he kindly translated it into Portuguese.

    @Pawel: right! Fixed that :)

    This really doesn’t look like a tutorial to me, man. More like a damn quick walk-through. heh

    “Actually, a whole tutorial could be written on how I did the spokes, here I can only give an outline.” ……

    Well, it’s a Making Of, not a tutorial really. Perhaps the post title is a bit misleading.

    In a word: awesome!

    I am still looking for a good tutorial on desiging *your own* car design from scratch. There are numerous tutoirals on how to model an existing car from blueprints, but not one based on an original design.

    @ Olaf

    Why don’t you just draw some blueprints of your own car design then?

    Beautiful! I don’t care if the model is accurate, it looks great!
