Tutorial: Blender Material and Composite Nodes

Colin writes:

At the Blender Conference 2006 I promised participants that I would publish the Blender Nodes Flash Cards that were given out at my session, for the whole community. These cards represent each of the Nodes available in Blender v2.42a. Each has a description to make there function clearer. Some of this information is from the Blenderwiki but most has been re-written to help the newcomer to Blender nodes. On the back of this card is an example node based material that gives a brief description of how nodes can be used to create previously impossible materials. It uses some unique and unorthodox approaches to the use of Material Nodes but that’s what makes their use so enjoyable.

We have come to think of tutorials as having to be a linear story, explaining you something step by step. Colin has decided to take another approach on this and even though I am unfamiliar with the Flash Cards method, I can see how they can make absorbing new information easy and fun. A drawback of this method would seem to be that you have to actually print the cards before you can really use them. I wonder what you think about this method – please let us know!

You can find both sets of Flash Cards in the tutorials section on Colin’s website.
