Surrealist Music

By Roman a.k.a artiztz

This interesting, surrealist statement about music was recently posted, amongst other works, on blenderartists for us to enjoy!

Roman writes:

Hi, my name is Roman. I’m from Riga, Latvia. I graduated from the Department of Graphics at the Academy of Arts. I started 3D graphics relatively recently, about two years ago. At work it was necessary to make a single object in 3D and I managed this with Blender.

Many of my works were done for contests to learn how to model. Others were simply ideas that I wanted to implement in 3D.

Renders done using Blender Internal or Yafaray.

Oohh how it evokes sounds in my mind of a scratchy, almost unsettling record of a violin whining away its laments! Great job modeling the flower and the needle aparatus, but I have to say that the record doesn’t look quite right. Somehow, the texture is cold and not vinyl-like and the ridges appear way too deep and spaced far apart. If you tweak that a bit more, you’ll end up with a very interesting image!

The colour palette and lighting is beautifully done, as is the texturing.

    Congrats!
