Support Blender and Get Your Name in the Credits, September 15th Deadline!
As you may all remember, the newest Open Movie, Project Durian, is underway. These Open Movies are organized to improve Blender as much as possible. For Project Durian one of the goals is to make the next Blender series, Blender 2.5x, stable for production use.
It is possible for you to get your name in the end credits of the movie. How?
If you pre-order the Durian DVD at the latest on September 15th, 2009, you will be credited. Together we have the opportunity to break the magic border of 2000 preordered copies during the Credit Campaign.
Why would you do this? The campaign is one way to raise funds for Project Durian. You’ll be directly funding Blender development! So if you can manage with your finances, don’t hesitate, but get that DVD (it’ll be crammed with all sorts of goodies).

Yeah I’m going to miss the credits deadline.
I just got no cash at all at the moment.
But I will get the DVD in the pre-sale!

I bought one but it is very expensive. I live in France (very close of Netherlands) and I pay around 15 euros in tax, shipping charges, and another tax about the transfer between the two banks. So around 45 euros. I never paid a dvd 45 euros.
But it’s for the blender association.
For once, I’m happy to not be at the other side of the Atlantic ocean.
45 euros is not that ;uch expensive if you consider the price of current PC and console games (55 or 60 euros when new !)
It’s even less expensive if you think of what it will provides you with :
– Your name in the credits
– Bonus material
– A life size poster of the heroin of the movie topless (just kidding… though… That’s an idea no?)
Anyway, I do hope all goes well and this movie makes Blender history.
@ MuMu33: You don’t have to pay anything for the bank transfer! There are no fees for Bank transfers in Europe anymore as long as you use BIC/IBAN.
@Daniel Genrich: not true, I’m afraid. I just paid €25 for a payment from the Netherlands to Austria. Maybe it’s different for each country?
if i bought another one, would my name be in the credits twice? :D
I’m going to try and borrow money just to get my name in the credits. Durian and the 2.5 project are so exciting I want to get my name in the credits and be part of it’s history. This is such an exciting time.
The french banks are the most skinflist in EU, most of all when this bank is a french public utility!! ;D

i just got the confirmation mail that everything went well with the transfer…however i didn’t check my account yet to find if i had to pay some extra dough for the transfer to the bank,
the info text on the terminal there said with the proper iban and swift/bic code the costs are the same as a normal inland transfer…
anyway great dvd can’t wait to see the movie and the extras:)
i wonder if theres people gettin their names multiple times in the credits by purchasing several copies:D
@Bart, I think it depends on the type of payment you choose. In Finland, when I choose Euro quick payment *and* select IBAN/BIC(SWIFT), then I don’t have to pay extra
@Nixon, hardly, but at least they get multiple copies! And instead of doing multiple copies, those people could always consider sponsoring instead to become a Gold Sponsor (or even larger): http://durian.blender.org/sponsors/

wise choice and if One has multiple copies he still has his name mentioned in multiple credits, fair enuff:)
I hope that lot of companies will take the chance to get in on this thing,
after all its a decent project to get involved with as a company.
The ‘Dodol Durian’ sweets manufacturer already owes the durian team some popularity and will hopefully get on the wagon with this.
I can also remind someone enjoying the refreshing taste of a Heineken during the prepro weeks :D
