Studio Lighting for YafaRay in Blender 3D

rings2Blender 3D Architect (Allan Brito) pointed me to an interesting tutorial on Yafaray.org on a generic Blender scene which creates great looking studio lighting with Yafaray.

Blender 3D Architect writes:

One of the most common environments to present 3d models is the so called studio setup, where we can find a 3d scene specially prepared like a real photography studio. The advantage of this type of scene is that it is a way to show a 3d model in an abstract environment, just to present the overall look of the model. A scene like a studio setup is quite simple to create and is composed by an infinite background, and a couple of area lights places on the sides of the scene. Depending on the renderer, the lights might change to planes that emit light energy instead of light objects.

Fantastic! This is the sort of thing that makes the difference between somebody trying (and giving up) with YafaRay and becoming an expert! Well done to the YafaRay team.

WTF!!! When did YafRay get such a full GUI and Image Base Lighting and all that other cool stuff? I guess when it updated from version 0.0.9. I must have missed the news on Blender Nation. I'm so gonna get back into it. Those renders look freakin awesome. Why wasn't I told. I'm so out of the loop :(

An embarrassingly huge and swollen thank you to the YafRay team for what looks to be some great developments. I'm downloading version 0.1.1 now and wetting my pants at the same time :)
