Allan Brito has just finished a new book, called “Blender 3D 2.49 Incredible Machines”, in which he takes us through the process of modeling, animating, and rendering 3 different mechanical objects, as well as showing us how to use YafaRay and LuxRender. Check it out!

I saw this book a few days ago and was wondering when it’d be up here. I’m gonna have to drop that on a list.
The book covers nice arguments: theare are good turotials about Yafaray and Luxrender on author’s site, so it’s possible to check book’s quality, but I’m more curious about the modeling chapters of the incredible machines!
It would be nice to know more, so, Bart, thanks a lot for the review, especially if supplied with some images.
Ordered it. I”m very interested in Blender books which show how to model non-organic objects and this one might help.
Now! is about time some one added a club music to a blend video.
What a coincidence, I’m currently modeling all kinds of heavy machinery for my upcoming Big Machine Games. Definitely going to check this out, since I still have a lot to learn ;).

Blender 2.5 is not out yet.
@ReCreate: Blender 2.5 Alpha 0 is out, and as far as I know the Blender Foundation plans on using the 2.5 versions to be their testing ground for the Durian Project, building towards the full-fledged release of Blender 2.6 mid-2010.
@Snippy: There is still plenty of use for 2.49 instructionals – sure, the interface is different, but many of the base principles stand intact – and no, giving it away free is not fair. After spending months on writing a book, why should Allan Brito give it away, loosing part of his livelyhood? Sure, I asked for a free copy in return for reviewing the book, but I don’t think it’s going to happen, because someone else is already reviewing it. No worries, there are plenty of free learning materials out there to keep someone busy for a month.
@Snippy Hey man, I need someone who will paint my fence and wash my car for the next few months. Will you come do it for free?
What I meant to say with my sarcastic remark was that even though this book is coming out now, at the verge of a total Blender overhaul, it doesn’t take away from the quality and value of the information composed in it’s pages. Surely that must have value?
It will take some time for Blender 2.5 to become stable and dependable. For now, I’ll be sticking with 2.49b. If you support this Book now, you might inspire the Author to write one epic Blender 2.5++ book in future.

@Snippy, if you don’t want it, don’t buy it. In a year or so, once the software has been released and people have time to write about it, there will be books out about 2.5.
However, if you can do mechanical modeling in 2.49 it’s likely you’ll be able to figure out how to do it in 2.5 after 5 minutes of looking up new hotkeys, so if you’re interested in mechanical modeling, you may as well learn it now.
And, FIY, 2.49 is the current stable release of Blender and will continue to be for some time.
I am buying it.
2.5 is still a work in progress and this book has a lot in it I can use.
