As noted by others Blender was installed on the machines during the last competition. Prior to the start of the competition one of the contestants requested Blender and it was installed on all computers.

Maybe the foundation could do something to include Blender and other opensource solutions.

Blender is on every public computer at SIGGRAPH! A group of us, including Ton, were walking past the FJORG monitors in the outside hallway, the monitors show what is on the screen of the animators computer, when Ton noticed that some of animators were using Blender. He mentioned that all public computers at SIGGRAPH had Blender installed on them.

Blender should be a event sponsor donating a copy of blender for each team. :)
