@Hans-Peter Bock: As I wrote in the article, the main reason is for consistency with previous reels.  Also, I&#039;m willing to bet that most people&#039;s animations have been rendered at standard definition television resolutions (or something close to it) rather than at high definition.  It&#039;s easier to make HD source material look good on SD than the other way around.
