3dw91cover200.jpgIf you can still purchase issue #91 in your local bookstore jump on it. In this issue there is a tutorial by Bassam Kurdali on rigging a fully posable worm character in Blender.

This is one of the best advanced rigging tutorials I have seen. Bassam walks you through the process step by step. The resulting rig reminds me a bit of certain parts of the Mancandy setup. The rig itself involves the use of lattices in conjunction with armatures, if you've been wondering about Bassam's techniques this is a good look at how he does it. Below is a shot of the first page. The tutorial itself is four pages in length.

    Yeah I read it already great tut and nicely presented, though never tried it out for myself. Good stuff keep them type of articles coming. I am sure that will give blender some more well deserved exposure.

    Maybe not completely on the subject, but on the other hand it is about blender featured in a magazine.

    Blender 2.43 was reviewed in LINUX FORMAT issue 93 (june) and received an overall score of 9 out of 10.

    Features 10 out of 10
    Performance 10 out of 10
    Ease of use 8 out of 10 So that isn't so bad
    Documentation 9 out of 10 Thanks to a great community

    there is typo in the headline of the magazine article. it should say "pen**" instead of "worm".

    cool – I've seen articles and tutorials on blender in 3dWorld before though, they're all good but I suppose rigging can never have enough tuts written on it lol!! Incidentally, I very rarely get computer or graphics mags – never mind – I can wait for it to be put online – if blender's rigging system hasn't been completely rewritten by then ;)…

    @basse:
    keep it above the belt – quite a lot of young people use blender and keep up to date with blendernation – not that they'd necessarily mind but…

    Undoubtedly a very good article, but the screenshots were very hard to read! You cannot see well exactly what is going on!

    @ATK: The accompanying CD has larger screenshots as well as the scene files.
