Dear As,

Max and Maya are used by every single professional animation, video game and film production company in the world. Blender is not. Max and Maya are recognised as the standard industry programs because they are solidly designed and have a full 24/7 customer support base installed (via internet AND phone) which Blender does not have and will never have unless it were bought out. Blender is an incredibly unstable program and has little user support in comparison even to one of those programs.

When production companies are given millions of dollars to produce something with 3D, whatever it may be, they aren't going to hedge their bets on open source software. The investors will not even consider that element into the equation. Using Blender and relying on it to keep stable is extremely risky. You ask anyone who works in the Film or Videogame industry and they'll tell you the same.

To train students in any course on a majority of blender usage would be a useless route to take for Pepe Land School, Animation Mentor or any 3D course for that matter. To be of any value to the industry and profit realistically, students must be trained in those programs. There are no two ways about it. Blender will never have that advantage over those programs ever. If you're deadly serious about working in 3D then you would use either one of those programs. Blender is a good entry level program but long term, Max or Maya is the go.

Dear Pepeland,

Are there any international courses in your school?
I couldn't find any info about this because the homepage of the school doesn't seem to have English version or the button is well hidden ;)

Anyway, are there any options to do 90% in Blender and what is left other none Autodesk software?

Thank you for showing this amazing demo reel that is so professional that the one hardly can believe it is made by students projects.

regards.

Thanks to all, I'll say to the students :)
All works are done by students of school.
We used Max, Maya and this year we have Blender too.
Basically the students choose the program, Max or Blender on modeling
side, Maya or Blender on the first animation part, the last part is only in Maya
at the moment. Lot of students use Blender for render, compositing and editing
the works. We use a lot the points cache files to export animation between programs.

The idea is that Blender will be the 50% of students works.
