Particle Systems Documentation Updated
The particle systems documentation on the Blender.org wiki has been completely updated. Please note that this documentation covers the particles from 2.46 and higher.

Is there anywhere you can download _good_ fur/hair materials like the neon blue one shown in the picture on this site? The ones in the “Blender Material Repository” and the documentation does, well, not look very good to say the least.

*any pdf to download…i have collected about 2 gigas of blender material from docs to tuts to bam issues,mat libraries,blender versions,scripts and so on…and this particle system doc is really a must have….
I went ahead and converted this guide into a PDF file for personal use.
But if SoylentGreen does not mind, i might post it in the Blenderartists forums.

djallalnamri, ONLY 2 gigs? I’m just burn 3 DVDs worth of tutorial materials and sadly, they only scratch the surface of what Blender can do…IF you know what you’re doing. I don’t.
Also, The April fools day windows Blender header graphic seems to still be in the rotation, you might want to take that down.

@BrianH: I found that I have uploaded an older image (i.e. I have uploaded it a year ago and forget to change it…), but of course this is from you fur library. I have remade it now with 2.49, so a few settings had to be adjusted, and I have not yet managed to get exactly the same look as you did. @nonaestet: The license is probably Open Content License, see http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Meta:Licenses. I release everything I write also with an GFDL license, which you may use instead (but only for the parts I’ve written alone). So yes, of course you can compile it into a PDF file and publish that. Though I would probably wait a bit so that errors may be corrected (and there are for sure some I’ve not yet found).

A Fur DVD? Oh yes please! I would love to buy such a thing, just name your price! It is very difficult to find really good references for Blender.

It’s something I’ve been tossing around for a while now, along with the BGE Networking I’ve been working on. I’ve been very busy with my job (the one that pays the bills), but lately its been getting more calm and I could possibly find time to get something done with the DVD. I have other fur materials I could include, possibly another Volume worth if I work on it some more. I’ll let BN know if I do proceed with anything.
