(Not so) New modeling Tool

In other words SharpContruct is for Linux users what Z-Brush is to Windows ones, i.e. an amazing tool to litterally sculpt 3d meshes as they were made of clay. Easy to use and powerful, a perfect Blender companion.

Wow a os alternative for zbrush. I’ll wait until its compiled for windows in a higher version but will test it right now -.-

For those who can not (or don’t want to) try SharpConstruct, I remind that now a B-Brush python script is bundled with Blender 2.41 in order to sculpt meshes also. It can bring cool results, too! But most of you are probably already aware of this.

I do have the newest blender version (2.41 linux) but there is no B-Brush script included!!

Ok, the rights in the blender archive are set totally wrong! Users cannot see the b-brush script (an lot of other things)!
The B-Brush script can be accessed through those simple steps:
1) go to the scripts view
2) select Scrpts menu > Mesh > B-Brush Sculpter, a message asking you to activate the Space handler script appears
3) in 3D view select View menu > Space Handler scripts > event: mesh_bbrush.py
Now you can set prefs clicking RMB and sculpt your mesh with RMB.
To deactivate brush mode repeat step 3.
SharpConstruct is a better tool than b-brush, for one it allows the creation and addition of ‘alpha’ png images to apply surface textures to your model, it imports and exports .obj so you can take a basic model from Blender into Sharp mold it and then import back into Blender for rendering etc.
Also b-brush doesn’t appear to respect the swapping over of left and right mouse buttons for selection in Blender.
How to convert .blend files to .obj files? I know there is export script but obviusly it is not working or I don’t know how to use it.
As long as your Blender mesh is clean (i.e. normals facing the right way, etc.) it should export to .obj just fine. The problem is that SharpConstruct doesn’t always place the model to where you can see it, and is often placed behind a far-clipping plane in the GUI. If you translate the model closer to you, the model will appear in front of the clipping plane. The modelling capability is cool, but rotating, translating, etc. in the GUI is still primitive. The author is making a lot of progress and the program obviously has a lot of potential, but I guess the author just hasn’t gotten around to polishing the GUI interaction stuff yet. It’s still in the alpha stage of development (0.1.1 seems to be the newest version.)
