The site's creator, julesd-g6, says:

I have been working hard on blenderuser.co.uk which I have built to try and bond the UK blenderheads a little. Although we are not officially open yet, feel free to look around, sign up and start posting. Enjoy!

If the owner of this website's reading this:
Don't underestimate the effect of a website header. The artifacting and general blurriness of it really destroys it completely. It should be possible to get that down to a very respectful size without it looking like that.

First image on the page didn't finish loading. Website header repeats 2.2 times across screen. Breaks screen margin. Navigation links don't line up with header. Messy, messy. Unprofessional.

  3. 3 Kernon

    @Willie
I'm not experiencing those issues. Could the problem be your browser?

  4. 4 fraek

i had header repeats, screen margin breaks, navigation links not line up, until page
finished loading. The 1st. image did not. On Safari 3 for Windows.

  5. 5 Kernon

It's best to use Firefox or IE to avoid most problems.

@Kernon, I'm using the latest version of Firefox. And what's up with all the posts being "announcements"?

@fraek – are you on dial-up? I didn't have any problems when using a high speed connection, when all the images loaded and resized themselves. So I guess there's no real problem then, since, as we all know, all Brits have high speed connections and none of them use odd browsers like Safari or Opera.

  8. 8 Mystery

Without javascript enabled the header repeats several times, when enabled it's fine.

    Mystery

It's fine on my Firefox 2.0.0.4.

It requires javascript enabled or you get repeating headers as some people have noted… – at least, that's as far as I can tell – but I don't like the way it loads first and then resizes – I'm on a pretty fast computer (reasonably new) and I can still see it load which looks ugly – esp. on konqueror (on linux) – blendernation doesn't have such bad loading…
I also second the comment about the header image quality.

    Hi guys…

Thanks Kernan for the plug… and you are right… I have only tested with ie and firefox, but now apple have released safari for windows I will test with this too.

As for the header repeating issue, this is due to the fact that I used some 'clever' code to resize images that are linked from other sites… I really want to be able to show the work of the UK blender community off as much as possible but hosting everyone's images is not really an option right now. I will be looking into how to make the resize code (which is currently javascript as mentioned above) a bit more robust…

thanks to everyone who joined and responded here though… your feedback is really usefull.

    cheers, J
