Mini-tutorial on landscape sculpting

mini-tutorial-on-landscape-sculptingPaul Caggegi from the Process Diary has posted another useful videotutorial, this time on landscape sculpting.

Paul writes:

Hi BlenderNation, Paul Caggegi from The Process Diary again.

The latest blog post is a mini-tutorial on modeling terrain. It details the methodology involved from initial topological sketch to finished model. It utilizes the sculpt tool and how to "paint on" custom textures.

It also shows how to generate a normal map from a higher-resolution version for the purposes of mapping onto a low resolution mesh, and how it effects final renders.

Cheers,

Paul C

Thanks Paul, and I especially like that you included a written tutorial along with the video. This will be very useful.

Nice, but it's not a realistic surface, because it's sculpted manually!
If you use a realistic heightmap the displacement would explode the scene!
Is it possible in Blender to do it like here:

    ???
    That's nice, too!!
