180px-keyboard-left_keys.jpgVirgilio Vasconcelos was kind enough to drop us a line on something he found, something that could be interesting for new Blender users coming from Maya: a hotkey translator.

Kernon Dillon at BlenderNewbies has done a simple webpage that lists the most common Maya hotkeys and maps these to Blender hotkeys. When you don't have a direct mapping it will show you the steps you need to do to get there.

In the page you have a listbox, select the respective Maya keystroke and you will have the appropriate Blender hotkey written on the textbox, its that simple.

Kernon even goes further and makes himself available to do further key mapping if the one you use frequently isn't listed there.

Hopefully we can see more initiatives of this kind and be able to report on XSI / 3DS Max / Lightwave to Blender hotkey translators in a near future.

brilliant, been waiting for something like this…

of course, the next step would be to take a page from xsi's plans for world domination, and have a maya mode inside blender… :)

Shift-D is the same, I know that. What I realy need is a Blender to Maya translater, because that's what we're going to use when I start in my 3D animation course next year.

Предлагал Иван девицам непристойности всякие. А те страшно краснели и называли Ивана дураком. Так и пошло с той поры, что ни Иван, то дурак, что ни девица, то красная…
