I've seen a 3D screen (stereoscopic LCD I imagine it works in the way you describe) Entplex, http://www.ict.de/Philips_42-3D6W01_WOW.984.0.html?&L=1 but it would be great to see your method. I love the idea

At first glance I thought this was a tutorial on how to make a slit setup for turning a 3D model into a physical hologram (laser light viewable) and it reminded me of a holography class i took in college where we started investigating a set up using an few LCDs to display an image and create an array of slits. With this setup we were hoping to be able to automate the process of making a hologram from different views of a 3D model. Finally as were started tearing down the LCDs we remembered that LCDs polarize light in a way that would make what we were trying to achieve near to impossible… anyways this is cool also.

just watched the (fake) fall-off and glow effect video – very nice! Already seen VenomGFX's version on the fake-fall-off, but this was still great. :D (I say "fake" because VenomGFX noted that real falloff is with area lamps, and this node setup is a "fake" way of doing it.)

nice. the video was confusing because there was some wait time when he was adjusting the GUI so the viewer could see what he was clicking on.

Personally I think it would be better to have a wave of distortion go up the model (instead of the alpha strobe,) more like what people are used to seeing from "Star Wars". But the beauty of making your own film is being unique and creating what YOU envisioned, not Lucas Arts or anyone else.
